English Abstract

Book "Travel philosophy"

Philosophy of travel. New destinations for tourists

The philosophy of travel is the only contemporary philosophic monography in the German language which treats exclusively the topic of tourism.

The purpose of this book is to be a guiding system of thoughts for an existentialistic valuable wayfaring. With modifications from humanistic ways of thinking and through (subject-oriented) philosophical ideas, present-time answers should be found for the following questions: "What should we expect from our trips? Do we achieve what we are striving for? How can we travel successfully?" Travel and philosophy are two modes of being on the way.

The approach to the phenomenon of touristic travel is a syntax consisting of etymology, philosophical definition, short history, types of travel literature, similarities of all touristic travels, position in relation to other activities (e. j. work, games, science) and an ideal trip chronology.

The second part is a presentation of the motivations, the meanings and the functions of holiday trips in the form of three theoretical worlds: Outer World, Contrary World and Inner World, the characteristic types of travellers and their particular strategies (e.g. pioneer activities, regression, metainterpretation).

Touristic, psychological and intercultural suggestions as well as concepts of theory of cognition in the book should be helpful for a more intellectual travel. Aditionally, a more satisfying manner of living.

The question of how travellers reach a wisely modified way of life and a lasting integrated change in their thinking and those who stay more or less in enjoyment, reality escape and their "Every-days-One", is answered in a refined and - simultaneosly - amusing manner.
